Oroville Mercury Register Building Sold Butte County Buys 14,000 sq. ft. Building

(Oroville)  California Northern and The Group Real Estate have announced the Oroville Mercury Register newspaper office/warehouse complex has been sold.  The 14,000 sq. ft. building on 3.26 acres has been purchased by Butte County for $1,500,000 and will be used for General Services.

The transaction was handled by Mike Donnelly and Kevin Mechelke of the Staubach Company representing the Seller.  Butte County Property Manager Grant Hunsiker represented the Buyer.

Because of changing trends in the newspaper industry, the Oroville Mercury Register needs far less space than the massive facility on 2nd Ave.  Donnelly and Mechelke are now working with the newspaper to find a smaller, more suitable location closer to downtown.

The Oroville Mercury anticipates relocating to its new location by November, and until then will lease back from Butte County and remain at its current location.
